A MESSAGE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Protocol - Access to Schools to Collect Student Belongings

June 10, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Link to: Access to Retrieve Student Belongings Protocol

As this unique school year moves closer to its conclusion, there are a few important events that are still to occur. One such event is the opportunity for families and students to retrieve personal belongings from their school. In this regard, we have developed a protocol, approved by our regional public health authorities, for the retrieval of students' personal belongings. You are encouraged to read the protocol, which was built on COVID-19 safety standards, and is attached to this message. The protocol must be followed to ensure the health and safety of all staff, students and families.

The retrieval process will take place between June 15 and June 26. During the next few days, your child's principal will send you an email with details on the process for retrieving belongings at your child's school. Depending on the size of the school, this process may take several days.

Students and families may also use this opportunity to return items belonging to the school, including musical instruments, textbooks and library books, if they are no longer required. All such items are required to be returned to the school by the end of the first week in July.  With respect to the return of DPCDSB learning devices, please note that instruction continues until June 26, so you are not required to return these devices at this time. However, if you have a learning device that you no longer require, you are asked to return it to the school when you come to retrieve your child's belongings. Otherwise, information about the timing and process for returning devices will be communicated separately at a later date.

You are not required to come to the school to retrieve personal belongings if you believe you no longer require these items. Please be aware, however, that any items not picked up will be disposed of according to your school's year end practice.

Thank you again for choosing a Catholic education for your child. May God continue to guide and bless you and your family.
