Marissa Loiacono from Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School is the top Ontario Scholar in the Bolton/Caledon/Orangeville area with a 97.50% average. Marissa will be studying Arts and Science at McMaster University. She has received the President's Award from the university for her high academic standing.
"Congratulations to Abigail, Abhinav and Marissa for their remarkable achievements despite a very challenging and unusual school year," said Marianne Mazzorato, Director of Education. "It takes tremendous dedication, focus and commitment on the part of these students to achieve this level of academic success. It is also a reflection of their teachers, parents and guardians who inspired and encouraged them to reach for the top."
To be an Ontario Scholar, students must achieve an average of 80% or higher on their top six Grade 12 courses. This year, 4,417 DPCDSB graduates earned this distinction.
"This year, we recognize our 7,226 DPCDSB graduates who have fulfilled the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations and are ready to take on a new journey outside the familiar walls of their schools," added Marianne Mazzorato. "We are extremely proud of each and every one of them and wish them success and God's richest blessing as they move on to the next chapter in their lives."
