DPCDSB opening new Secondary French Immersion Program at Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School in Mississauga

On September 3, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) will open a new secondary French Immersion program at Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School in Mississauga.

For the 2019-20 school year, French Immersion will be offered in Grade 9 and will build up to Grade 12 each year thereafter. French Immersion at the secondary level at DPCDSB is open to any child who is currently enrolled in a Grade 8 French Immersion program. The Ontario Ministry of Education requires French Immersion students at the secondary level to complete 10 credits in French (four in French Immersion language courses, and six other subjects in which French is the language of instruction).

Parents/guardians can request that their child attend this French Immersion program, but need to be aware that transportation will not be provided.  Parents/guardians of students registered in any French Immersion program are responsible for ensuring that their child(ren) arrive and depart safely each day to and from their registered French Immersion centre.

An information session will be held on March 28 at 6:30 p.m. Parents/guardians and students are welcome to attend.
