The Ontario Ministry of Education's Education and Career/Life Planning Program helps students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 develop the knowledge and skills to make informed choices about their education, careers, and lives. This program focuses on four areas of learning: Knowing Yourself, Exploring Opportunities, Making Decisions and Setting Goals, and Achieving Goals and Making Transitions. It aims to ensure all students can make informed choices and prepares them for their next steps, whether it be further education, training, or the workforce.
At DPCDSB, we strive to support students in their career/life education planning through use of a web-based Education Planner in myBlueprint, where students can reflect on their educational journey as Catholic citizens and plan their post-secondary steps.
The program is designed to help students achieve their personal goals and become competent, successful, and contributing members of society through the exploration of the following 4 inquiry questions:
- Who am I?
- What are my opportunities?
- Who do I want to become?
What is my plan for achieving my goals?
All students from grades K-12, within Dufferin-Peel have access to their own personal electronic portfolio which contains activities for students to reflect on the 4 inquiry questions and set career/life planning goals.
Grade 7-12 Students
Education Planner
Students in grades 7-12 have access to a web-based program hosted in myBlueprint called the "Education Planner." It is a mobile-friendly education and career/life planning resource used by counsellors and teachers in thousands of schools to help students build an Individual Pathways Plan (IPP) and engage them in planning for their future.
Students can complete multiple career assessments, unlock occupation matches, plan their courses, compare post-secondary programs, build resumes, cover letters, budgets, portfolios, and so much more.
All students from grades 7 – 12 must be completing activities in their MyBlueprint account as part of their Individual Pathways Plan. Student information is archived at the end of each year and accessible for students to view the following year and beyond. Students will continue to have access to their archived documents, reflections and postings in their myBlueprint account even after they graduate from Dufferin-Peel.
