School psychologists work to find the best solution for each student and situation and use different strategies to address student needs and to improve school and district-wide support systems.
They work together with teachers, parents, children and adolescents, to understand, prevent, and solve problems, and to promote mental health and effective environments for learning. They also provide consultation and support regarding effective techniques to manage behaviour at home and in the classroom, working with students with disabilities or with special talents, and preventing and managing crises.
There is a staff member from the Psychology Department assigned to each school. Please speak to your child’s teacher or school Principal about psychology services in your community.
