Special Education Advisory Committee

The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is an advisory committee mandated by the Ministry of Education to advise the Board on matters related to students with diverse learning needs, including special education needs.

SEAC is composed of representatives from local associations, the school board, Indigenous representatives, and may include additional members who do not belong to any of these groups.

SEAC has a longstanding role in supporting students with special education needs and aligns with the Board's mission to provide a holistic Catholic education in unity with families and the Church. This mission guides SEAC's contributions to Board initiatives, including the Multi-year Strategic Plan (2023-27) and the Catholic Board Improvement Learning Cycle (CBILC) goals. As required by the Special Education Plan Standard, the Board reports on SEAC operations to the Ministry of Education and ensures public access to relevant information.

SEAC meets monthly, offering stakeholders opportunities for input. It maintains a reciprocal sharing and reporting structure with the Central Committee for Catholic School Councils (CCCSC) to enhance collaboration.

Monthly Community Association Reports highlight successes, challenges, and solutions. Each SEAC member contributes a unique perspective, fostering continuous improvement through shared responsibility and goal setting.

Parents, guardians, and adult students are encouraged to attend SEAC meetings and explore opportunities for involvement through the SEAC Membership information below.

The Special Education Advisory Committee meets monthly, generally on the third Wednesday of each month. Members of the public are welcome to attend SEAC meetings.

NOTE: Meetings will take place in the Board Room at Catholic Education Centre at 7:00 p.m.
